Ballet Victoria returns with a heart-pounding and electrifying program that pays homage to some of the greatest rock and roll bands of our time. Unexpected and genre-blending, Ballet Rocks combines the likes of iconic rock anthems with contemporary ballet stylings for an innovative dance experience.
Expect some Pink Floyd and Queen on the program, as well as other classic rock, jazz and musical theatre. The works are rooted in classical technique on pointe, but you will also find neo-classical and contemporary style.
It is a great performance for all ages and all dance lovers!
Programme sneak peak:
“Le Jazz Hot” (choreography by J. Lemay).
Music from Victor/Victoria by Mancini with Julie Andrews.
Piece created by the Royal Winnipeg Ballet (RWB) and performed by Evelyn Hart in the first RWB tour to the USSR. It was the first time any Canadian company toured to Russia, and it was hugely successful. The work was also danced by RWB principal dancer Laura Graham when she competed in the world ballet competition in Varna where she won Gold!
