Aisles

For safety, and as a courtesy to others, patrons are not permitted to sit or stand in the aisles during the performance. Due to fire regulations, aisles should be kept clear at all times.

Arrival

The box office is open 2 hours prior to the event start time and the main lobby doors are open 1 hour prior to the event start time. Ticket scanning will begin 1 hour prior to the event start time at the front (Cliffe Avenue) doors of the theatre. For most events, doors to the auditorium seating are generally open 30 minutes prior to the event start time. Latecomers will be seated by ushers at the appropriate time as directed by the event presenter.

The theatre does not have an ATM on site. The closest ATMs are located at the Coastal Community Credit Union branch at 291 4th Street or Scotiabank branch at 392 5th Street.

Booster Seats

Booster seats are available free of charge for patrons of any age. Please ask event staff for assistance if you require a booster seat.

Coat Check

A coat check service is available year-round. There is no charge, but we encourage donations which go directly to our student bursary program. Bottled water is also available for purchase at coat check (cash only). Please be advised the Sid Williams Theatre Society is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Cameras

For most events, photography and audio/video recording is not permitted. This policy may change at the discretion of the performers and/or event presenter. Please listen to pre-show announcements indicating the specific event policy or ask any event staff for clarification. Professional cameras or recording equipment are not permitted unless previously arranged with theatre staff, event presenter, and/or performers.

Cell Phones/Pagers

Patrons are asked to put their cell phones or pagers on silent or vibrate mode and please refrain from texting during the performance.

Children/Infants

All patrons entering the theatre must have a ticket regardless of age.

Infants are ages 12 months or younger and can be held in arms or on a lap. Many event presenters offer special pricing for infants. Please contact our box office to inquire about infant tickets. Children ages 13 and under must be accompanied by, and be seated next to, a supervising adult.

Please consider only bringing children and/or infants to events that are recommended for their age group.

Disturbances

We ask everyone to please be considerate of other patrons. Any patron interfering with the enjoyment of another individual during an event may be asked to leave the theatre without expectation of a ticket refund. Theatre event staff reserve the right to refuse entrance and/or re-admittance to anyone, as well as the right to ask someone to leave the premises.

Flowers

Due to respiratory sensitivities, flowers are not permitted inside the venue. We encourage patrons to leave flowers in vehicles or at home while attending an event.

Food & Beverages

Only water is permitted inside the auditorium. Personal water containers with lids are permitted, provided they are empty on arrival and are filled at our fountain. Bottled water is available for purchase at coat check and the theatre lounge.

Our theatre lounge is open 1 hour prior to a performance, as well as intermission, and offers refreshments and snacks for purchase. The lounge is cashless and accepts debit, credit card, Apple Wallet, and Google Pay as forms of payment.

View the lounge menu

For many events at the theatre, alcoholic beverages are available for purchase. Theatre lounge staff are trained in the Serving It Right program for responsible alcohol service. Patrons are not permitted to bring in alcoholic beverages from outside vendors and may not go outside the building with alcohol purchased from the theatre lounge. Theatre management reserves the right to refuse the sale of alcohol to any patron.

Hearing Assistance Units

Hearing assistance units are available free of charge at coat check. Patrons will need to provide name and phone number to check out a unit.

The system is an FM transmitter on 107.5 FM. Patrons may choose a neck loop, single earpiece, or double headphone. The neck loop is to use with a hearing aid(s) that must be in the Telephone (T) or Micro-Telephone (MT) position. The single earpiece and double headphone work as a normal stereo headset. All three systems attach to a small handheld radio.

Inclement Weather

Events are rarely cancelled or postponed due to inclement weather. Please be advised that tickets for all events are non-refundable. If a decision is made to cancel or postpone an event, information will be posted on our website and Facebook page as soon as it is available. Information will also be made available through our box office phone message.

Large Bags and Unattended Items

Patrons are not allowed to bring large or bulky items (bags, backpacks, etc.) into the auditorium. Please leave large items at home or in a vehicle. If you are not able to leave the item at home or in a vehicle, it may be accepted at coat check after our event staff and/or security conduct a safety inspection of the item.

Lost & Found

To inquire about the possible recovery of a lost item, please contact our front of house department at 250.338.2430 ext 5.

Merchandise

Artist merchandise may be available for purchase in the theatre lobby. Most merchandise is cash only. Please note: there is no bank machine at the theatre.

Presales

Presales do not guarantee tickets. Presales give patrons with passwords/codes the opportunity to purchase tickets before the general public. Look for the "Promotion Code" box to enter your presale password/code.

Presale passwords/codes are always entered before choosing your tickets.

Scent Sensitive Facility

Fragrances and scented products can aggravate health problems for many people, including those with asthma, allergies, and other medical conditions. For the health and consideration of others, please refrain from wearing fragrance or scented products when attending the theatre.

Special Considerations

We ask any patrons attending an event who may require special assistance or suffer from serious allergies to please notify our box office at 250.338.2430 ext 1 or tickets@sidtheatre.com.

Ticket Scanning

We use a barcode scanning system for tickets of patrons entering the theatre. Scanning of valid ticket(s) provides the theatre society with quick and accurate attendance figures and controls fraudulent, duplicate, or invalid barcode(s) from entering the theatre.

Will Call Ticket Pick Up

Tickets that have already been purchased and will be picked up just prior to the event are available at our box office up to 2 hours before the event start time. If you are picking up tickets, please bring valid photo ID. Please note: our box office closes 30 minutes after the event start time.
