First Annual Benefit Concert for Special Olympics BC – Comox Valley (SO)
SO has been around for 32 years and currently hosts 90 athletes in 11 different sports. Our athletes participate in local, regional, provincial, national and international competitions. Each SO local is responsible for raising funds in support of their athletes. All the money raised here stays in the Comox Valley and goes directly to benefit our athletes. Taking part in Special Olympics gives you the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new friends, and discover your true potential. Being a Special Olympics athlete means that you will train and play sports in your local community at a level that suits you. It also means that you are part of a big group of people who have your best interests at heart.
Rising out of the ashes of psychedelia in 1969, Canada’s legendary Chilliwack released 12 albums over a 15 year period producing numerous Canadian and international hits including “Lonesome Mary”, “Fly At Night”, and “California Girl” in the 70’s; and “My Girl (gone gone gone)”, “Whatcha Gonna Do” in the 80's. All this work led to 15 gold and platinum certifications, a host of awards, high profile TV appearances and coliseum concert tours. Chilliwack’s reputation for consistently powerful shows continue, and with the live CD There and Back still winning over new fans and delighting long time ones, Bill Henderson and the band are rocking like never before. Hearing the revitalized Chilliwack of today is like hearing those songs for the first time… all over again.

Born on Vancouver Island, the youngest of three boys, North started writing songs as an escape from his older brothers with his mother (his inspiration) forbidding the older boys to pick on him when he practiced piano. It’s no surprise that North traded great grades for blisters and early music accomplishments - Winner of 106.9 The Bear’s Rock Search; $100,000 in NEWCAP Radio’s Big Money Shot; Indie Pop Album of The Year with his band Garrity; Winner of Song of the Year.com for best country song; International Songwriting Competition 2014 Semi Finalist ("Turn") and 2015 Finalist ("Love Like That"). North’s songs have also been featured in independent films and placed in US syndicated television.
North Easton is an accomplished performer and award-winning Canadian songwriter with an aptitude for writing evocative, thought-provoking lyrics and melodies.
