The Sid Williams Theatre Society continues to work closely with the City of Courtenay and other cultural and industry partners to maintain a basic level of operations and services while keeping the health and safety of our community as our highest priority.
We will continue with adapted operations for the time being, but we are encouraged by local and provincial efforts to curb the virus and keep case numbers low.
The Sid Williams Theatre remains closed until further notice under directive from the City of Courtenay and provincial health guidelines.
All events scheduled through August 30 have been postponed or cancelled.
The possibility of events taking place September and beyond remains uncertain.
We are working with our rental clients, artists, and the City of Courtenay on re-opening and preparedness options for the fall.
As we work on plans for the coming months, we’ll be sending out surveys to gather community feedback.
Our first survey has been published seeking input regarding online (virtual) programming. A second survey about restarting and comfort returning to the theatre will be sent out this summer.
We made the difficult decision to cancel our 2020 – 2021 season of the Blue Circle Series. With so much uncertainty, our operations need to be flexible and instead we are hoping to present a limited number of one-off events under our Centre Stage banner.
We are planning to hold our Annual General Meeting in September as a virtual event instead of in-person. Please stay tuned for more details to be provided this summer.
We are so appreciative for the patience and compassion of our patrons while we navigated the postponement or cancellation of events. We also extend our gratitude to the many ticket holders who turned part or all of their ticket value into a donation for our performing arts community. Thank you!
We wish you continued health and safety during this extended intermission.
