Ballet Victoria’s own exquisite rendition of Bram Stoker’s Dracula is coming to your theatre. A gripping story of lost love and found romance, it is filled with profound depth and symbolism. The dancers’ sensual and hauntingly beautiful performance is sure to render you speechless, as they take you on a journey to a dark and dangerous world. Ballet like you have never seen it before.
The costume design of the production draws details from the eastern European culture and folklore. The eclectic selection of music by Beethoven, Elgar, Bizet, Mahler, Pärt, Benedictine Monks, Piazzola, Tyler Bates (Guardians of the Galaxy) blend seamlessly, and link centuries together, much like the mythology of the vampire that started it all.
The choreography follows a stylistic evolution, beginning with a more traditional style of classical ballet, through a more neo-classic vocabulary eventually reaching an innovative contemporary style as the narrative and characters evolve.
