Arriving at the Theatre
The main lobby doors and the ticket centre will be open 1 hour prior to the performance start time. For most performances, entrance to the auditorium will be 30 minutes prior to the performance start time.
Latecomers will be seated by the ushers at a convenient break in the performance or at intermission as directed by the performers. If you leave the audience during the performance, an usher will reseat you at an appropriate moment during performance.
Cell phone, cameras, and all other electronics that make noise, create light or record images, video, or audio must be turned off unless a performer or presenter announces an allowance for these items.
Avoid the long lineups at intermission by ordering your refreshments before the show and enjoy the intermission. The theatre lounge is open 1 hour prior to a performance and during intermission.
A coat check is available year round. All donations for this service go directly to our Bursary Program. Bottled water is also available for sale from the coat check.
Flowers and Personal Items
Due to pollen allergies and the noise of flower wrap, flowers are not permitted into the auditorium. Flowers can be ‘checked’ into coat check and picked up after the performance.
For security, safety and comfort of all patrons and performers, personal Items such as backpacks, all food/snacks and drinks, and any large purses or items will not be permitted into the auditorium. We recommend you leave these in your vehicle. Our performance assistants are all volunteers and are not able to offer a secure location for your items.
Food (including candy), drink (other than bottled water) or personal beverage containers are not permitted into the auditorium. Please consume intermission refreshments and snacks in the lobby and lounge areas.
Available free of charge, our booster seats were made possible with help from seat plaque donors, Courtenay Little Theatre and the Comox Valley Community Foundation. These seats are not just for children; they also make the theatre experience more enjoyable for adults in need of 'a boost'.
Children and Infants
Most performances are for adult audiences, unless otherwise stated. An adult must accompany and be seated next to children under the age of 14.
When bringing a young child, please check with the Ticket Centre on ticket availability. All ages attending a performance must have a ticket. When a performance offers discounts for infants or young children, the price will be shown among the ticket prices. If there is no discount, a regular price ticket must be purchased, regardless of the age of the infant or child.
Located as a 15th row on the right hand side of the auditorium, this room can accommodate 4 seated patrons and has a sound barrier glass in place for viewing. The room is great for restless children or for covering up a cough. Sound is not 100% contained, so please be considerate to other patrons when dealing with crying infants. Stage sound is available in the quiet room only during events that have performers using microphones.
The Sid Williams Theatre is a scent sensitive facility. Scented products can aggravate health problems for some people, especially those with asthma, allergies and other medical conditions. We share the air! Come & See scent free.
As in any establishment, theatre staff and volunteers have the right to refuse entrance or ask someone to leave the premises.
