Sarah Hagen presents
Emily Carr String Quartet with Sarah Hagen
Saturday, March 3rd @7:30 PM

The Emily Carr String Quartet is inspired by Emily Carr's diverse body of artwork. It represents to them not only an artist's experience of life in Victoria, B.C. but also the spirit of the West coast of Canada. For the honour of bearing Emily Carr's name, the quartet thanks Emily Carr House, Victoria, BC.

The Emily Carr String Quartet has quickly established itself as one of BC's finest music ensembles. Renowned for its passionate and inspiring performances, critics rave "some of the most intensely driven and eloquently passionate playing I have heard in some time."
"Music in Victoria"

Formed in 2006 by members of the Victoria Symphony in Victoria BC, the Emily Carr String Quartet has gone on to performances in the US, Europe and Asia. They have collaborated with such artists as Jamie Parker, Arthur Rowe and The Tin Alley String Quartet.

In Feb. 2007 the quartet performed Turkish composer Saygun's Third String Quartet at the Ankara Music Festival's 100th Anniversary of Saygun's birth . The ECSQ recently recorded Saygun's First Quartet on their new CD "Hidden

Big Reed Productons presents
Carlos del Junco and the Blues Mongrels
Sunday, March 11 @ 7:30pm

Carlos is one of those players whose music is so advanced that when it comes to awards, it's either retire the category or rephrase the question to "Best Harmonica Player Not Named Carlos". This includes two Gold Medals from the Hohner World Harmonica Championship in Trossingen, Germany, as well as multiple national awards in Canada.

To say he plays the harmonica is like saying "Jimi Hendrix plays guitar". He blows the blues harp through a prism -- suddenly it seems he's holding every color in the musical rainbow right there in his hands.

Simultaneously sophisticated and raw, his playing blurs the boundaries between blues and jazz (hence the name for his band “The Blues Mongrels”). The emphasis is on blues, but they are not afraid to merrily traipse off in other directions delivering a seamless fusion of New Orleans second line grooves, swing, Latin, hip-hop or ska melodies, to swampy roots rock.

Carlos and his Blues Mongrels deliver a no-holds-barred display of fun and melodic virtuosity. They will be featuring songs from the latest 2011 release: Mongrel Mash

Sid Williams Theatre Society presents
Steven Page
Thursday, March 15 @7:30pm

This is an acoustic tour. Steven Page was one of the founding members, lead singer, guitarist and primary songwriter of the music group; Barenaked Ladies. He left in 2009 to pursue a solo career after 20 years with the band. We can count on the usual upbeat pop-rock material we’d expect from a co-founder of BNL with lots of new and catchy songs.

"The Western swing will be a series of acoustic duo gigs with myself and my friend Craig Northey, playing a bunch of solo SP songs,
BNL songs, a couple of Odds songs, and maybe even a cover or two. Hope to see many of you out at the gigs!" Steven Page

Don Paul Entertainment Inc. presents
Abbamania and Nite Fever the Bee Gees
Sunday, March 25 @7:30pm

ABBAMANIA the concert, is an all Canadian produced musical which takes you back to the disco era of two of the best pop bands in history

ABBAMANIA features twelve incredible musicians and singers which are the main highlights of the musical concert re-lived. Not only do the four performers look exactly like Anni-Frid, Bjorn, Benny and Agnetha, they also sound unbelievably like them. Recently returned from a Malaysian tour they have performed in the USA, Europe and of course Canada to sold out shows worldwide for the past 10 years that they have been together.

The National Exhibitions, C.N.E., P.N.E. and Stampede have employed this show 11 times combined and it is the #1 show even over major recording acts. With standing ovations and people in the audience asking, "is this really ABBA?", this is a show that everyone, young and old should not miss.

ABBAMANIA performs 21 of ABBA's hits, with all the costume changes, choreography, a live band, back-up singers and members of the Symphony Orchestra that travel with the show.

THE BEE GEES - For over 40 years, a time span more than any other group in pop history, The Bee Gees have been outwitting the international music scene with their incredible tenacity to remain current through all time spans of contemporary music. The precise harmonies of brothers Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb have made The Bee Gees one of the most impossible attractions in music to reproduce until..."Stayin Alive". The vocal match of Joe Varga, Paul Reda and lead singer John Acosta create an eerie sense of seeing the brothers Gibb alive in concert...An event virtually impossible to see today.

The all Canadian production of The Bee Gees stands on its own and has added to this already powerful show.
