FUNDRAISING: Donations to the Sid Williams Theatre Society
The Sid Williams Theatre Society conducts charitable fundraising for the following activities:
- ongoing capital Improvements to the theatre building, equipment and facilities
- our Bursary Fund providing educational opportunities for Comox Valley youth
- our Superstar Program providing theatre tickets at no-charge to low income families
- our Endowment Fund providing for the theatre’s future long-term operations.
A donation can be made in any amount and applied to any charitable program of the SWTS of the donor’s choice. Donations can be made by individuals, groups, families, businesses, and can be paid in installments. The SWTS is a registered Canadian Charitable Organization; donations to the SWTS are tax deductible. In addition to the above seat plaque categories, donations to the SWTS will be categorized into the following levels:
- $20-$199 bronze
- $200-$599 silver (seat plaque $200, reserved for volunteers, application required)
- $600-$999 gold (seat plaque $600)
- $1000-$4999 platinum (seat plaque $1000)

SID WILLIAMS THEATRE BURSARY PROGRAM
SID WILLIAMS THEATRE SOCIETY BURSARY AWARD 2012
Students planning to continue their education in the performing arts or entertainment industry are invited to apply for the Sid Williams Theatre Society Bursary Fund.
A minimum award of $500 per recipient will be given out each year – to be determined by the SWTS Bursary Committee.
Applicants must:
- Applicants must submit a complete SWTS Bursary Application Form to the Sid Williams Theatre Bursary Committee (which may be forwarded via the Work Experience office at the Applicant’s school) on or before April 30 (or next business day if April 30 falls on a Sunday).
- Applicants must be a graduating student in the same year of: G.P.Vanier Senior Secondary, Highland Secondary, Mark Isfeld Secondary, or North Island Distance Education.
- Applicants must be continuing their studies at a post-secondary institution in a field related to the performing arts or the entertainment industry (including film and video).
- Applicants may attach additional letters of reference as applicable.
- Applicants must have completed a minimum of 30 hours of volunteer work experience at the Sid Williams Theatre (or be registered to do so before the end of June in the year of applying), and must attach a letter of evaluation from the SWT volunteer Coordinator (can include work experience in technical theatre or theatre promotion and marketing). ‘
OR
- Applicants must be investing a minimum of 2 hours per week (minimum 60 hours per year) in formal training (i.e.class/tutor/instructor led) at a senior level in a performing art, such as band, voice, drama or dance; and must attach a letter of recommendation from their performing art teacher, choir director, band instructor, etc., and have performed in some capacity on the SWT stage (can include technical theatre training or training in theatre promotion and marketing).
